Like all puffer fish, Fahaka puffers from West Africa have beaks to break apart their food. If threatened, they can blow up to three times their normal size. 

All African puffers need light brackish water, but some cichlids and most brackish fish are compatible tank mated with the Fahaka. Fahaka puffers make terrific pet fish and prefer a diet of live foods, including snails and crayfish.
